Fulton, NY – Nick Habel, human resources manager for Huhtamaki in Fulton, was recently honored as the United Way Campaign Coordinator Volunteer of the Year at the United Way of Greater Oswego County’s Salute to Volunteers and Leadership Giving Luncheon Habel was recognized for his role as Company Campaign Coordinator for Huhtamaki’s employee campaign in support of United Way.
As campaign coordinator Habel shares the mission of United Way with his co-workers at Huhtamaki. Through personal meetings with every department and shift change, Habel conveys the United Way’s effort to provide the basic needs to families and individuals throughout Oswego County and the impact United Way has on ending hunger, helping youth succeed, and building healthier communities.
“For the past 13 years Nick has been telling the story of United Way and inspiring Huhtamaki employees to lend their support,” said United Way Board Member Clark Stanton. “During his tenure as company campaign coordinator Huhtamaki employees have donated more than $223,000 to United Way. Additionally, Nick advocated on behalf of United Way of Greater Oswego County to procure a company match from Huhtamaki North America. His efforts have resulted in a combined donation of almost half a million dollars during that time to United Way. While each campaign has its unique challenges, Nick keeps the best interest of his community at heart. His loyalty, dedication and commitment to United Way is commendable.”
